The Allotment

The directors of RAWCOUS CIC have obtained a piece of land and a vegetable patch in a community allotment in Southend with a lease. The allotment is part of the Eastern Avenue Allotments in Southchurch. The allotment is calming, relaxing and has a real community feel. It has a real sense of well-being and mindfulness and is a very safe space for children living with the conditions expressed above.

Once we have completed developing the allotment, we are looking for the area to be a shared space for other local groups that may wish to use it as well in the future. We expect that many families will utilise the space annually.

Rawcous CIC will be providing wellbeing sessions & seasonal family activities which will include cookery, growing fruit, vegetables, flowers, learning how to keep healthy, digging, planting, crop planning and harvesting.

Our objective is to make a difference to children and young people’s lives; addressing the challenges that children & young people face. Rawcous CIC’s activities will see children and their families build their resilience by empowering them to re-build their self-esteem, skills, and confidence. This will see children and young people improve and try to manage their mental health themselves and reduce their dependency on other services.
